Q. What is WASSAA?
A. WASSAA is the Western Australian Steiner School Alumni Association. It is an association for former students, parents, employees and volunteers (alumni) of Western Australian Steiner Schools.
Q. Who can join WASSAA?
A. Membership is open to any former student (K6-Year 12) who attended a Western Australian Steiner School for a minimum of one year.
Those who were parents, employees or active volunteers at a WA Steiner School for at least a year are also eligible to join.
There are different membership categories depending on the age of the past student at the time of application.
Q. What personal information do I have to give the Association to join?
A. Your name, address (this can be your home, postal, or email address); the last School you attended for at least one year; and whether you are applying as a past student, parent, employee or volunteer. You can withdraw your membership at any time.
Q. Are there membership fees?
A. No.
Q. What are the benefits of being a WASSAA member?
A. The full scope of benefits to members will be announced once the Association is established and financial. Future events and benefits will aim to continue and extend the sense of community, engagement and shared culture and values developed between students, parents, employees and volunteers over their shared schooling journey.
Q. What are the objects (purposes) of WASSAA?
A. WASSAA will be independent of WA Steiner Schools; however, will align with the schools’ codes of conduct for members to be trusted advocates of the schools’ reputations. The objects (purposes) of WASSAA, as outline in its Constitution (rules) are:
1) To support and advance Steiner education by connecting people with a shared experience of Steiner education.
2) To provide a link between Steiner Schools and Alumni.
3) To highlight and celebrate the outcomes of Steiner education.
Q. Is WASSAA a not-for-profit organisation?
A. Yes.
Q. When is the first annual general meeting of the association?
A. WASSAA will be officially launched at the Perth Waldorf School on the worldwide Waldorf-100 day—19 September 2019.
Members will receive an invitation to the launch, which will also be its first AGM and alumni event.
